Crawford Windor has been serving Lane County since 1948. We are owned and operated by the Snyder family, we work out of a shop on Washington Street in Eugene, and our crews live in the same towns they drive to every morning. Not a franchise. Not a chain. Here is why that actually matters to you.

The person who answers is the person who can help

Call a national outfit and you will usually reach a call center. The person taking your details is not a garage door technician, has probably never seen your street, and is entering your problem into a form that gets routed somewhere else.

Call us during business hours and you get someone in our Eugene office who knows the crews, knows the schedule, and knows what is on the truck. If your situation is urgent, they can tell you honestly whether we can get to you today — not put you in a queue and let you find out later.

Local knowledge is not a marketing line

Garage doors fail differently in different places. In the Willamette Valley the enemy is moisture. Damp winters rust hardware and stiffen rollers. Wet falls leave grit in the tracks. Temperature swings between a cold morning and a warm afternoon make steel expand and contract, which quietly loosens fasteners over years.

A crew that works this valley every day recognizes those patterns immediately. We know which subdivisions were built with which doors, which older neighborhoods have openings that are not standard sizes, and which rural properties out toward Junction City and Harrisburg have barn and shop doors that need something heavier than a catalog residential model.

What to ask before you hire anyone

Whether you call us or someone else, these questions will tell you most of what you need to know:

• Are you licensed and bonded in Oregon? Every legitimate contractor has a CCB number. Ours is CCB #586. You can verify any contractor for free through the Oregon Construction Contractors Board before you let them near your home.
• Where is your shop? A physical local address means parts on hand and a place to hold you accountable.
• Do your own employees do the installation, or do you subcontract it? There is nothing wrong with either, but you deserve to know.
• What happens if something goes wrong in six months? Listen for a straight answer rather than a warranty document.
• How long have you worked in this area? Not how long the brand has existed — how long these crews have worked these streets.
